These are instructional story books which were designed to teach "useful things in an entertaining way".  Since Sewing is no longer taught in most schools, that leaves the Moms, Grandmothers and Aunts, etc. to teach our growing girls these useful things.

I had the opportunity to begin reading the book with my 12 year old granddaughter, and she loved it. We flew together to meet Walt in California for a Quilt Show and every time she thought that we had a few minutes, she would nudge me and say
"GI GI read".
